Backups: The Best Blockade Against Hacker and Virus Activity.

8 Steps: Easily Setting Up Security

Backing Up Is the Quick Easy Method of Protecting What Matters in Your Life

If you read through these pages you'll avoid most hackers, viruses, malware, and spammers. Nothing is foolproof. If you have important files stored on your computer copy them onto an external hard drive, (necessary with today’s larger computer drives), connect the external drive to a separate power supply, and keep it powered off except for backing up and restoring the system or files.

The information on avoiding infection is useful but this the solution that cannot be stressed enough. Backup, most people don't even understand what is meant by that. A proper backup is a bit by bit copy, optionally compressed, that is created as a copy of the operating system and stored externally. The important detail of this backup is that it uses a CD or DVD to restore the system.

Years of attempts have proven that restoration has be adaptable to changes in partition and harddrive configuration. This computer currently uses PC BACKUP Pro by DT Utilities. It suits the required flexibility and is reasonably priced. The need for the backup is paramount. Viruses can destroy your computer but that is useless to the hackers that write them.

A more common problem is for malware to take over your computer. It will disable all your security software. It may offer your control back for a price, maybe by pretending to be your security software and wanting payment for an upgrade. The thing is, you can't trust them. Even if they give you back control it is at the mercy of their whim. The best practice is to simply shut down and restore to an operating condition.

This is your best option for one major reason. You don't need to become or pay for a computer guru. You don't need to spend days on research to find the cause and problem. You only need to take a little time to learn to use your backup software and test it to make sure it works. Then you can relax when you're on the internet knowing that if someone hijacks your computer security you simply insert your restore disk and restart your computer. An hour or so later, everything is fine.

All you need is your backup software. Set up your operating system in prime condition and back it up. You may want to make new backups periodically or when you make major software changes.
